5 things to watch: LSU @ Arkansas

The LSU Tigers are coming off a beating at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide.  This week they travel to Fayetteville Arkansas to battle the Razorbacks.  The Tigers under Coach Ed Orgeron have never lost two straight games. Here are five things to watch Saturday night:

Hangover:  How much energy will the Tigers have after a shut out loss to Alabama?  Is LSU over that loss or are they still thinking about it?  That will be big to answer early in the game against the Razorbacks.  Typically, Coach O and his staff are really good about getting their team over a loss and turning the page to the next opponent, but that kind of loss last week can linger into the next game.  Let’s see how the Tigers respond early in this game against Arkansas.

Road Favorties:  The Tigers are favored by more than a touchdown against the Hogs.  LSU can’t let the Razorbacks hang around late in the game and have a chance to pull off an upset.  Arkansas usually plays LSU pretty tough at their place, after all this is the "Battle of the Boot".  This game is a little bit more of a rivalry for Arkansas than it is for LSU.

Offensive Surge:  After being shut out last week against Alabama it will be imperative for the Tigers to score and score quickly.  LSU wants to get over that bad loss. The Tigers should have no problem moving the ball and scoring against Arkansas leaky defense.

Angry team:  Coach O has said it a hundred times over -- the Tigers play better when they’re angry and he coaches better when he’s angry.  Well, you should be pretty angry coming off that loss to Bama, so let’s see how angry the Tigers are this week.  I hope that LSU doesn’t try to win two games in one week against Arkansas.  That could be a recipe for an upset if the Tigers are still thinking about Alabama and what could have been.  It’s simple -- take care of business against a team that you should handle and handle fairly easily.

Plenty to play for:  Sure the Tigers are likely out of the playoff picture in college football with two losses. However, LSU is on pace for a 10 win season, and that would be a significant accomplishment this season.  The Tigers should be favored to win in the final three games in the regular season.  10 wins would be huge for a program that most picked to win just 7 games this season.  The Tiger should be plenty motivated this week and down the stretch for the remainder of the season.
