The Saints signed wide receiver Brandon Marshall after signing then subsequently losing Dez Bryant to a season-ending injury last week.  WWL’s Saints color analyst Deuce McAllister likes the move. “He’s an experienced player.  When you talk about having a young receiver room, particularly when you have Ted Ginn Jr. out right now, Marshall gives you that veteran presence.  Brandon gives you a big body.  He gives you experience as far as understanding and seeing coverages.”

McAllister reiterated the advantages of having a 6’5” receiver like Marshall.

“When you get in redzone situations or third and fourth and short situations, he’s a guy that can go up and get the football.”

In 13 seasons in the NFL, Marshall has 970 receptions for 12,351 yards and 83 touchdowns, though his production has dropped in recent years.  He played in 5 games for the New York Giants last year and 6 games for the Seattle Seahawks this year.  Still, McAllister thinks this could be a good spot for Brandon Marshall.

“Marshall has been in the league for 13 years, and this could be his first time making the playoffs.  I think he’s excited and looking forward to the opportunity.”
