On my recent vacation, my kids and I were discussing how some of our best memories happen during family trips.  That led to a discussion of trying to recall our very earliest memories.

What's your earliest memory?

I think mine was from preschool at age 3 or 4.  My family went to see a taping of the "Bozo the Clown" show.  I remember being there and then going back to school and telling my classmates about it the next day.  I have a few other memories from preschool.

I also remember going to the hospital to see my mom and new little brother when I was four and a half.

According to an article, that a listener sent a link to, most adult humans don't remember much before they turn four.

"The vast majority of scientific research, for decades, has found that our brains simply don’t have the ability to process and encode life experiences into long-term memories before the age of three-and-a-half (we might have some memories of those early years when we’re kids, but they fade away by the time we reach third grade)," reporter Ed Cara said on gozmodo.com.  Click here to read the article...

Some of our listeners tell us they do have earlier memories of very traumatic or dramatic events in their lives.  Here are some of the texts they sent to 870870 during the Early Edition of WWL First News from 5:00am to 6:00am:
