Cops in Michigan are investigating after learning that a cheerleader allegedly gave students at her high school brownies baked with marijuana in an effort to win votes to be homecoming queen.

Police in Hartford tell local media they have sent the brownies to the state police crime lab for testing.

They got a tip that goodie bags designed to win votes for homecoming queen contained the drug-laced baked goods.

It is not clear if the tactic worked, as police have not identified the 17-year-old suspect.

That is wanting to be homecoming queen bad!

Authorities say the cheerleader and her mom are scheduled to be interviewed, but were on a trip.

If mom was involved in baking pot brownies in an effort to get her daughter elected homecoming queen, she is clearly a candidate for Mother of the Year.

Here is the story from the Associated Press:

HARTFORD, Mich. (AP) _ It's unclear whether the tactic worked. But police in Michigan say a 17-year-old high school cheerleader tried to use pot-laced brownies to be voted homecoming queen. WXMI-TV reports three brownies recovered from students at Hartford High were sent to a crime lab for testing. Police say they got a tip that the baked goods were brought to school last week. And the tipster says some brownies were put in goodie bags for the football team while others were used to secure homecoming queen votes. Authorities say the cheerleader and her mom will be interviewed once they return from a trip.
