So you are taking a road trip.  You have two kids, two dogs, two adults, luggage and everything else.  What you don't have is enough room for everyone and everything in your sedan.

What do you do?

I know what you DON'T do!

You don't put the kids in the trunk.  Unless you are a couple driving from Arizona to Wyoming, and you think the dogs belong in the back seat.  Oh, and you want to go to jail.

They were sentenced this week to a month behind bars.

"I tried to make things as safe as I could for them,” Michael J. Fee told the court. “It wasn’t anything malicious."

Safe? Really?

This man thought the small children were safer in the trunk than in the back seat with the dogs?

I remember some family vacations with my parents, two brothers and our big dog.  It was not terribly comfortable to be three in a row with a dog across out laps, but it was better than riding in the trunk!

Now, animal lovers, do not jump to the conclusion that I am saying the dogs should have gone in the trunk.  I am not saying that at all.  What I am saying is that if you put the kids in the trunk, you definitely go in the What is WRONG with People!?! file.

Here is the story from AP that started the conversation...

(AP) _ You've seen ``baby on board'' signs on the back of cars. But in this case, the car should have had a sign that read ``kids in trunk.'' Authorities in Wyoming say a man and woman have admitted to driving from Arizona to Wyoming _ with two kids stashed in the trunk of their car. Both 63-year-old Michael J. Fee and 31-year-old Amber L. Freudenstein have pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment. Sheriff's officials say a third party told them the kids reported they were kept in the trunk during most of the 900-mile drive _ while two German shepherds got the back seat. Fee told the court there wasn't enough room for everyone, so the kids were put in the trunk. Court records say the children put in the trunk were about 6 and 10 years old.
