Gasoline delivered to your car at your home or office?

It seems we can get just about anything delivered these days.  Same day grocery deliveries, two day shipping on millions of products, restaurant food to your door... are just a few.

So, why not gasoline?

In a growing number of cities, you can get someone to fill your tank while you remain in the comfort of your own home, office or anywhere else.

Is the height of laziness or a brilliant convenience... or both?

It's not available in New Orleans yet, but I wanted to know if locals would like such a service.

I asked for texts to 870870 during the Early Edition of WWL First News from 5:00am to 6:00am.  Here are some of the replies:

  • Make America even lazier
  • I would use gasoline-delivery services, I would pay extra to avoid nasty convenience stores.
  • America is becoming a place for laziness
  • I'd use it if it was freezing cold or pouring down rain.
  • This home delivery is going to make a lot of lazy people I wont use it
  • Dave, I'm in the fuel business and while there are currently no businesses like this for personal use in Louisiana it is something I'm keeping a close eye on. As you said, these services require a monthly subscription or delivery fee. They also have a delivery minimum, you are charged for the gas whether you take it or not. The prices are also upwards of 50 cents a gallon higher than street prices.
  • I tank up on my way or going home after work
  • I don't think I can do that without being present. My car has to be unlocked in order to get to my gas cap.
  • What if you have a gas cap that opens from the inside of your car
  • Still need lottery tickets, beer, snacks, etc.
  • Gas to my house, no way!! I shop at Costco; gas wine and steaks, all I need
  • Not a good idea for NOLA. Gas man will be robbed
  • Someone already does that for my wife.... me lol
