It’s the post season.  Nothing is easy.  And no one knows that better than LSU Coach Paul Mainieri.  “They (Texas Southern) kind of punched us in the mouth right from the get go.  It took a little while for us to get adjusted to their pitching.  We got off to a rough start.  But we were able to put it together and come back for the win.”

The Tigers Coach joined Bobby and Deke on Sports Talk to recap the Tigers Regional title they captured this past weekend.  LSU shook off a pesky Texas Southern team in game one of regional play and went on to finish the weekend without a loss.

Coach Mainieri gave a lot of credit to the Tigers opponent Texas Southern for giving LSU all they could handle early on in the Tigers first regional contest last weekend.  Mainieri said that his team started to put it all together as the weekend progressed.

“We didn’t play errorless ball and we were not playing as consistent overall as we had been in those first two games.  We were able to swing the bats well in those first two games which was key.  And then in the third game I thought we played well.”

Mainieri went on to discuss the Tigers weekend, looked ahead to Super Regional play and coach said currently it’s kind of a wait and see approach to prepare for the next opponent on the schedule.

“We’re preparing like we normally would at this point in the week.  We will look at things from all angles and later in the week we will decided on our weekend rotation,” Mainieri said.  Bobby and Deke tried to get Coach Mainieri to tilt his hand in to which pitcher would start game one for the Tigers, but Coach Mainieri said that he will not reveal his pitching rotation until later this week.

LSU was a perfect 3-0 last weekend to capture another regional title.  LSU is set to entertain either Southern Mississippi or Mississippi State in this weekend’s Super Regional at Alex Box Stadium.

The Tigers took down Texas Southern 15-7, Southeastern 11-6.  And LSU clinched the regional with a 5-0 shutout win over the Rice Owls.  LSU extended their current win streak to 14 games.  You can listen to bobby and Deke’s entire interview with LSU Coach Paul Mainieri by clicking below.  And for the latest on the Tigers Baseball Team stay logged on to
