Heisman trophy winner Joe Burrow on George Floyd Protests: 'This is about human rights'

The top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft took to Twitter Friday morning to offer support to those realing from the death of George Floyd, a Minnesota man who died in police custody while onlookers filmed an officers pinning him to the ground.

Burrow tweeted that the protests that have emerged from the incident are not about politics, but human rights.

"The black community needs our help. They have been unheard for far too long. Open your ears, listen, and speak. This isn’t politics. This is human rights." Burrow Tweeted.

Burrow has not been shy about using his platform to effect change. During his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech he called attention to the poverty rate in hometown of Athens (Ohio). Fans touched by the moment started a fundraiser for the Athens County Food Pantry that over $500,000.
