New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees announced Tuesday morning that he plans to return for a 20th NFL season.

Brees posted his decision on his Instagram account.

My feelings about the 2020 season! I look forward to the grind and the journey, for the reward at the end will be worth it!!! Love you #WhoDatNation. Let’s make another run at it!

The Pro Bowler just turned 41 in January and passed for 2,979 yards and 27 touchdowns while nearly matching a career-best by completing 74.3 percent of his passes last season despite missing five games with an injured thumb.

Brees is currently the NFL's all-time leading in touchdown passes, yards, completions and completion percentage.

His announced return brings some clarity to the Saints quarterback room as both Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and coach Sean Payton said the QB would be welcomed back. All three Saints quarterbacks from the 2019 season are set to become free agents next month. But after Tuesday's announcement, Brees will likely be in a New Orleans uniform.

Backups Teddy Bridgewater, who went 5-0 while filling in for Brees, and Taysom Hill, the Saints jack of all trades, are both expected to draw interest form other teams during the free agency period. Hill, however, is a restricted free agent meaning the Saints will have an opportunity to match any offers he receives.
