Zachary man drowns during underwater marriage proposal

Steven Weber Jr., of Zachary, Louisiana drowned after a romantic underwater proposal to his girlfriend during their trip to Tanzania last week.

Kenesha Antoine took to Facebook to confirm the death of her fiance in a touching tribute, sharing their final moments together.

Antoine announced the heartbreaking news that Weber died just after presenting her with a note in a ziplocked bag while swimming underwater. 

The noted stated, “I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you, but everything I love about you I love more every day.”

Weber then swam off. Antoine says he died before he reached the surface to hear her "yes" to his proposal.

According to his Facebook profile, Weber was an Residential Assistant at St. Christopher’s Addiction Wellness Center in Baton Rouge.

A graduate of Zachary High School, Weber had attended Delgado Community College, LSU and Baton Rouge Community College.

There is no information yet on why he did not make it back to the surface.
