Jennifer Kushinka reporting...

The U.S. is on pace to leapfrog both Saudi Arabia and Russia and reclaim the title of the world's biggest oil producer for the first time since the 1970s.

The latest forecast from the Energy Information Administration predicts that U.S. output will grow next year to 11.8 million barrels a day.

But Saudi Arabia and Russia could upend that forecast by boosting their own production.

When it comes to retirement, Louisiana may not be a state that you want to spend your golden years in.

The Pelican state is in the bottom five in new rankings from Bankrate.com, which weighed seven categories for retirees: including cost of living, health care quality, weather, crime, cultural vitality and well-being. Also in the bottom: Alabama, New Mexico, New York and Maryland.  South Dakota was tops, followed by Utah, Idaho, New Hampshire and Florida.

Futures are pointing to a higher open after stocks closed broadly lower yesterday. The Dow Industrials dropped 219, the Nasdaq fell 42 and the S&P 500 was down 20.
