The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy who was wounded in a shooting outside a Metairie hotel Sunday went home from the hospital today. Deputy Christopher Haislup was shot in the leg and arm when police tried to break up a domestic disturbance at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in the 6400-block of Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

"He's still very uncomfortable," Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto told WWL-TV. "He went through a major surgery on Wednesday: a rod inserted into his leg attached to both the bone at the top and the lower portion of that leg. Hopefully, he'll have a short recovery, but realistically, he's going to be out for a period of time."

Tyronne Louis, the suspect in the shooting, was arrested Tuesday in New Orleans.
