The New Orleans Police Department and U.S. Coast Guard are searching Lake Pontchartrain for a missing woman after an empty boat turned up in the lake, and its owner was plucked from the water by the Coast Guard.

"Two adult boaters - one male and one female - had reportedly been boating on the lake on August 5, 2018 when, for reasons unknown, the two entered the water and had not been seen or heard from since that time," according to NOPD spokesman Aaron Looney. "On August 6, a boat found to belong to the male victim was found by a citizen to be unoccupied and adrift in the lake, approximately 100 yards north of the University of New Orleans campus."

The Coast Guard reports the 34-foot sailboat boat was empty except for a dog.

The boat's owner, 43-year-old Michael Lee Farley was found alive around 7:00 this morning and recovered by the Coast Guard. He was taken to the Coast Guard station in Metairie, and then to the NOPD 3rd District for further interview.

The search continues for 32-year-old Sadie Thibodaux.
