Louisiana State Police say they have arrested the driver of the vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit and run crash on Airline Drive last night.

LSP said that Troop B was contacted by 26-year-old Kiedra Banks of Kenner, and advised that her vehicle may have been involved in the hit and run fatality.  Through further investigation, Troopers learned that Banks is the owner of a black 2007 Nissan Altima with a LA temporary tag.  Louisiana State Police Crime Lab processed the vehicle for evidence.

Through further statements and evidence, State Police Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Banks, who was placed under arrest for hit and run driving involving a fatality and no drivers license.  She was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.  The investigation is on-going.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 59-year-old Nathaniel Bailey was walking south on US 61 near the fog line and was struck by a dark colored Nissan Maxima that displayed a LA temporary tag.  The Nissan fled the scene on the Earhart Expressway into Orleans Parish.  Bailey was pronounced dead on the scene.
