It has been a little more than three weeks since the winning Mega Millions lottery numbers matched a ticket sold in South Carolina for a price worth more than $1½ billion, and so far, no one has claimed the prize.

Lottery officials say the winner has 180 days, and South Carolina allows winners to claim their winnings anonymously.

The deadline is April 21. Lottery officials say whoever the winner is, they should sign the ticket, keep it in a safe place, and retain a lawyer or financial planner.

The winning ticket with the numbers 5, 28, 62, 65, 70, and Mega Ball 5 was sold in at a convenience store in Simpsonville, NC. The prize reached $1.537 billion by the time of the October 23 drawing.

The closest anyone came in Louisiana for that drawing were nine tickets matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball, for $10,000 each.
