Sky rides and sandwiches and are among the featured items at area festivals this weekend.

There's something special in the air this weekend in Chalmette, where the sky's the limit.

The Bayou Road Balloon Festival has something for everyone, Friday through Sunday...

"We've got lots of balloons, lots of music, lots of great seafood...there's a lot of fun, family activity going on," says Festival Director Mike Zalaznik.

Tethered balloon rides will be among the activities. "They take you up about 50 feet in the air and you hover up there and get a different perspective on the festival, and then they bring you back down."

The big balloons will create a spectacular 'night glow' each evening.

And, you won't have to miss any of the weekend's football action. "We'll have a sports bar showing all the games and we're going to do a big tailgate area to watch the LSU and Saints' games."

Meanwhile, in Carrollton, New Orleans' favorite sandwich is celebrated at the Oak Street Po-boy Festival Sunday.

"More than 30 vendors will be out, with about 60 different kinds of innovative and traditional po-boys," says Oak Street Merchants, Residents and Property Owners president, Min Yang.

The variety of po-boys has to be seen to be believed...from Cochon de Lait to lobster, Oyster Rockefeller to escargot.

15 bands will be performing on 4 stages. Admission to the festival is free, but wristbands will be required for the purchase of po-boys.

And, you catch the Saints game in style. "There's an entire gated area of free access where there'll be a big screen TV, a tent, plenty of seating, a bar...everything you need to watch the game, sit down and eat some po-boys."
