We keep heating up for the weekend.

"We will continue the warming trend today," WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum forecasts. "Southerly winds will become breezy and usher in the warmer and more humid air."

Today's highs will be in the mid 70s.

"The weather could get interesting tonight," Nussbaum explained. "An area of low pressure will send us scattered showers and storms starting this evening and they will continue into tonight. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds and a few tornadoes."

Then, a cold front will move into Southeast Louisiana on Saturday.

"This will bring us more scattered showers and storms during the morning hours. These storms have the potential to also be severe with damaging winds and a few tornadoes. The rain and storms will end around midday and then we will have a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon."

Saturday highs will be in the lower 80s.

"The cold front will stall along the coast Saturday night and on Sunday. This will make it mostly cloudy with isolated showers on Sunday. We will stay mild with highs in the 70s."
