We could see some more rough weather today.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of the metro area.

Since heavy rain saturated Southshore areas on Saturday, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Sunday and Monday.

The Flash Flood Watch includes Upper Jefferson, Orleans, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, St. Charles, and St. John the Baptist parishes through 7 p.m. Monday.

"This is in response to the trend of some thunderstorms accumulating 1-3" of rain in a short period of time, sometimes less than an hour," says WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin.

"That could cause some flooding issues, most likely of low-lying areas and streets that typically flood in heavy rain events."

"This has already caused street flooding and the threat exists again today and tomorrow, possibly Tuesday as well."Franklin says.

"This isn't to say flooding can't occur in areas outside of the watch area, but these locales rely more on drainage pumps to remove standing water...and we know how that usually works out!"

Due to Saturday's heavy rains and the continued threat of more rain today, parking restrictions on neutral grounds in Orleans Parish have been lifted as a precaution to prevent vehicles from flooding. Residents may park on neutral grounds until further notice.

A cold front looks to move through the area early Wednesday bringing a slight drop in humidity through Thursday with muggies returning by Friday and the weekend.
