Gunfire in the CBD and Uptown marred Mardi Gras festivities Tuesday afternoon.

Police say two men were shot about 3:15 today at Union and Carondelet in the CBD.

A police source told WWL-TV that one man was shot in the head, and was in critical condition.

The other victim, a juvenile male, was shot in the leg, and was stable.

NOPD Operations Chief, Paul Noel, said 10-to-12 people got into an argument before the gunshots erupted.

A second shooting took place in the Garden District, near St. Charles Avenue and Second Street, where a fight broke out. A man was rushed to the hospital.

NOPD Chief Michael Harrison said it's believed the man was shot twice. He was rushed to the hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.

Both shootings took place near the Uptown parade route. In both instances the parades were halted for a while, but resumed after the scene was secured.

In both instances, police gave chase to suspects who fled the scene. No arrests have been made in either incident.
