Mandeville Police say officers arrested a 13-year-old this morning because he brought a gun with him Mandeville Junior High School and threatened a school resource officer.

"As of this time the weapon is recovered, and the suspect student is in custody at the Mandeville Police Department," according to a news release from Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker's office. "No students, staff or officers are in danger."

Police say once the appropriate charges are determined for the 7th grader, he will be booked accordingly into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
