KENNER – Kenner Police are investigating a shooting and the suspect was believed to be barricaded in a residence.

The SWAT Team was called out and made entry into residence but the suspect was not there.

Sunday morning at 9:10 a.m. officers responded to Ochsner Hospital in Kenner in reference to a gunshot victim who transported himself to the hospital.  The victim was shot in the arm and injuries were non-life threatening.

The victim and a witness who was at the hospital, advised they were in a house located at 833 Champaigne Drive Kenner at 9:00 AM that same morning.  The victim and witness, friends of the suspect’s family, were having a conversation when the suspect identified as 17-year-old John Green, of Kenner injected himself into the conversation.  Green then produced a handgun and shot the victim without provocation.  The witness believed Green to still be at the Champaigne address and was armed.

In June 2018, a search warrant was executed at the same residence in reference to a New Orleans Police homicide investigation in which Green was a suspect.  Green was not charged in that homicide investigation.

Kenner Police SWAT team arrived at the residence and attempts were made to make contact with Green.  Gas was deployed into the residence with no contact.  SWAT made entry into the house and was unable to locate Green.  Police are now searching the residence for evidence of the shooting and the handgun used in the aggravated battery.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for Green for the crime of RS14:34 Aggravated Battery.
