Southern University’s ‘Human Jukebox’ will not parade with the Mystic Krewe of Nyx.

The dance and music marching group made the announcement in a letter to the krewe, signed by SU’s Director of Bands, Kedrick Taylor.

"For several years, the Human Jukebox, which includes our Fabulous Dancing Dolls, has led the way for the Mystic Krewe of Nyx in New Orleans. That practice has now come to an end," the letter reads. "We will not participate in an organization whose leader proclaimed 'All Lives Matter' during a time of global unrest in response to the fatalities of Black Americans at the hands of law enforcement as well as those who carry out hate crimes,” the letter read.

SU is the latest parade group to quit Nyx after the krewe founder, Julia Lea, posted #AllLiveMatter to social media. That post prompted dozens of krewe members and captains to resign in disgust.

Board members demanded Lea resign and several board members were replaced with black members. Lea refused and that led to backlash and a large number of members leaving what once was the largest Carnival Krewe to parade in New Orleans.
