Not only was Super Bowl LIII the lowest-rated in local history, it also unleashed some lousy ratings on CBS and the NFL across the country. The 44.9 overnight rating for the Super Bowl was the lowest for a Super Bowl since the Steelers and Cardinals drew 42.1 in 2009.

In New Orleans, the game drew a rating of 26.1, the lowest ever in the market and the lowest this year among NFL cities.

Tulane Media Professor Dr. Mary Blue says these rating are lousy.

''Whoever predicted that there would maybe more people on the streets of New Orleans than in the Georgia Dome may have been right,''
said Dr. Blue.

Blue also wonders if these poor rating will change what the price of commercials for the next one.

''I  remember when they were $250,000 and we thought that was a lot and I just read they have been going for $5 million for a 30 second spot,'' Dr. Blue said.
