New short term rental regulations passed today by the New Orleans City Council today, passing a series of 3 items.

Residential and Commercial single unit licenses would require a homestead exemption, which are issued only on a primary residence, and requited an owner living onsite.

Residential permits would be limited to three permits per lot. The permit would allow the rental of up to three rooms with up to six guests.

All units within small and large scale commercial properties could be rented short term.

One motion upholds a total ban on short term rentals in the Garden District and French Quarter, except for the Vieux Carre Entertainment zoning district (VCE).

Hundreds of people showed up, on both sides of the issue regarding short-term rentals.

The short term rental regulations passed by a vote of 7-0.
