Storm preparations continue on the Northshore today and there is concern about high water, not so much from heavy rain but from tidal surge.

St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister says she believes most residents who live on the edges of Lake Pontchartrain know what they could be in for.

''We're looking at four to six feet and this will affect the coastal areas,  the low lying areas that are always  impacted by surge,'' Brister said.

Brister wants residents to take precautions today and tomorrow.

''Please stay inside, so many bad things can happen when you get on roads with high water, we will be blocking off roads as soon as we see water that could be dangerous,'' said Brister.

Brister is advising residents to stock up now and try to stay inside from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
