Officer injured during traffic stop, suspect caught

A St. Charles Parish deputy was injured last night during a traffic stop on a vehicle and after fleeing the suspect was caught.  

The incident happened around 11:40 p.m. at Hwy. 90 and Bayou Gauche Road.   

During the investigation it was determined that the subject was wanted out of Chicago on drug charges.

As the officer asked the subject to step out of the vehicle it appeared as though the driver was going to drive away.  The officer then attempted to reach into the vehicle to disable it at which time the suspect drove away dragging the officer a short distance. 

As the investigation continued throught the night, the suspect’s vehicle and the suspect’s girlfriend were located, but the suspect fled the scene on foot.  

Lamar Lathan, of llinois was eventually located and arrested this morning on the charges of:  Resisting Arrest by Violence or Force, Aggravated Battery, FUG/Chicago, Theft under $750.00, Two Headlights Required, Poss. of Marijuana.    Lathan’s girlfriend who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident was also arrested.  Tiffany Suggs, of  Yorkville, Illinois was charged with:  Poss. of MDA – Ecstasy.

The officer was treated and released from St. Charles Hospital for moderate injuries.
