Under social distancing guidelines that recommend six feet between people to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, a capacity crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome would be about 13,000 people, officials today told the commission that oversees the Superdome.

Doug Thornton, Vice President of ASM Global, the company that manages the Superdeom for the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, told the commission that's about 17.5 percent of it's maximum capacity. He also told them that they don't like the idea of that few fans in the seats, and are exploring ways to get more people inside.

One way would be to allow "pods" of fans, in groups of four to eight, something they called the "Associated Guest Model."

The NFL hasn't yet announced what policies it will have for attendance amid the pandemic.
