A pre-Christmas fight in a Slidell Walmart is getting national attention and coverage in both traditional and social media.

Slidell police made four arrests after fists and pepper spray were flying near the checkout lines.

"Slidell Police received several calls about a large fight in the produce section of Walmart (39142 Natchez Drive), including some of the involved people using pepper spray," Spokesman Daniel Seuzeneau said in a news release.  "The fight involved over ten people, and caused a major disruption during one of the busiest times of year for local shoppers. At least two people had to be transported to local hospitals for minor injuries."

It happened the day before Christmas Eve.

This video shows the aftermath of the brawl with shoes and purses scattered...

"Slidell Police arrested (pictured left to right above) Alexis Neal (19-years-old, Slidell, LA), Majara Walker (38-years-old, Slidell, LA), Seanice Warren (17-years-old, St. Louis, MO), and Morgan Walker (22-years-old, Slidell, LA) for Disturbing the Peace by Fighting."

Seuzeneau says it all started when members of two families with a previous conflict happened to see eachother at Walmart.

He explained that Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal did not take kindly to this incident.

"This type of behavior is disgusting and unacceptable," the chief said.  "This does not portray the character of the majority of our citizens here in Slidell. These women should be ashamed of themselves for doing this in the middle of one of the busiest retail stores in our city. Let this be a clear message that this will not be tolerated."
