Police in Thibodaux are investigating a shooting that left 2 people critically injured.

It happened shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning just outside an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Ridgefield Avenue.  When police arrived, they discovered two victims had been shot multiple times.

Medical personnel later arrived and transported both victims to local hospitals, with life threatening injuries.  Both victims are currently in stable, but critical condition.

Thibodaux Police Detectives were called to the scene to process for evidentiary purposes.

“This does not appear to be a random shooting,” said Chief Bryan Zeringue. “Our thoughts and our prayers are with the family and friends of the victims.”

The investigation is ongoing and the Thibodaux Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has been working around the clock since the incident.

The victim’s identity and a suspected motive has not been released at this time, in attempt to protect the integrity of the investigation.
