The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office today announced the arrest of a second 15-year-old suspect in the murder of 47-year-old Rechelle Hotard.

"Through investigation, detectives developed the 15-year-old male from LaPlace as a second suspect in the murder," the sheriff's office said. "He was arrested Friday."

Deputies booked the teen on a charge of second degree murder, along with misdemeanor charges that include possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Hotard was shot and killed Wednesday, February 6, in the 100 block of West 17th Street in Reserve. Deputies arrested a 15-year old later that day. Residents in that area told WWL-TV the teenager who was arrested that say had a history of being a troublemaker.

Hotard was the sister of St. John the Baptist Parish Councilwoman Jaclyn Hotard.
