Republican Whip Steve Scalise is speaking out after a federal judge struck down Obamacare as unconstitutional.

"When Democrats forced Obamacare down the throats of the American people on a purely partisan basis, they threatened that the law needed to be passed so that people could find out what was in it," he said in a statement "Over the last eight years since it was signed into law, we have found out that the Democrats who passed it caused millions of families to lose the plans and doctors they liked, and imposed unaffordable premiums and deductibles that undermine the basic coverage that families enjoy."

The Congressman from Metairie says the ruling confirm that the Obamacare law is broken and cannot hold up under court scrutiny.

"It also affirms that the law does not actually protect people with preexisting conditions," Scalise insisted.

He added that the Republicans are now the only ones who have passed a sound bill that protects people with preexisting conditions.

"We will continue fighting for lower premiums while ensuring families can make their own health care choices and, regardless of their health status, can obtain affordable coverage."

Scalise also looked to what's ahead now with the GOP losing House control.

"Democrats may have won the House by running a fear-mongering campaign, unfortunately their reckless legislating has not proven to be as effective for the American people who have to live under this failed system."
