Public satisfaction in the NOPD has increased to 55 percent in the New Orleans Crime Coalition's regular survey.

"Improving our services and meeting the needs of all our residents remains a top priority of mine, as it is for Mayor LaToya Cantrell," said New Orleans Police Chief Michael Harrison. "We must all work together to build a safer New Orleans."

The survey also found the percentage of people saying they feel safe in their own neighborhoods increased to 83 percent, one of the highest since the survey began in 2009.

The poll found growth in residents who say they are satisfied in how the department handles violent crime, at 47 percent, up eight points from the 2017 survey. Satisfaction in how the NOPD addresses property crimes increased to 54 percent.

The survey, which can be found online here, was conducted September 4- 6.
