About 400 people who had items on layaway at the WalMart on Tchoupitoulas Street got an unexpected holiday gift today: their items have been paid for in full, courtesy of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson.
Benson gave nearly $100,000 to pay off the items that were on layaway at the Tchoupitoulas St. WalMart in New Orleans' Lower Garden District.
"This was a gift from Mrs. Benson for the holidays," said a team spokesman.
