Who Dat Nation, here's why you should root for Atlanta this weekend

Yes, I said root for Atlanta

The New Orleans Saints (4-1) are off this Sunday, so the games that mean the most to the Who Dat Nation this weekend are Carolina (3-1) at Washington (2-2) and Tampa (2-2) at Atlanta (1-4).

With Carolina a half-game behind the Saints, pulling for the Washington Redskins is a no-brainer. The Saints spent much of last season with the Panthers at their heels, and could have ended up second place in the NFC South in 2017 had it not been for their regular-season sweep of the Cats.

The Buccaneers at the Falcons presents a more intriguing match up. The Bucs are 2-2 but have already beat the Saints once this season. The Falcons, meanwhile, are 1-4 including a loss to the Saints in week three.

While watching the Dirty Birds fall to 1-5 would likely cause many Saints fans to laugh with glee, it would probably be better for the Saints in the long run if the Falcons were to hang a loss on the Buccaneers.

"You want the Falcons to be bad, but not 'top-five-pick-in-the-draft' bad, just 'middle of the pack' bad," explains New Orleans Saints Radio Network sideline reporter Steve Geller. "Plus, looking at the Buccaneers, they're 2-2, and another defeat would drop them down the ladder in the division."

Also of interest to Saints fans is the Los Angeles Rams (5-0) at the Denver Broncos (2-3). The Rams are the only undefeated team in the NFC, and while the Saints will get their shot at the Rams on November 4 at the Superdome, any extra losses for the Rams would be welcome to the Saints when the NFC playoff race heats up.
