Hours after the New Orleans Saints (11-2) locked up the NFC South, during a frigid night in Chicago, the Black & Gold found themselves back atop the NFC standings.

The Chicago Bears (9-4) dealt the Los Angeles Rams (11-2) their second loss of the season, defeating them 15-6 and putting the Saints back in control of their own playoff destiny.

Barring any further Rams losses, the Saints will have to run the table, beating the Carolina Panthers (6-7) twice, along with handling the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5-1).

Chicago is mathematically alive for a first round bye, if they can keep winning and either the Saints or Rams stumble at least a couple of times. The NFC East-leading Cowboys (8-5) can't be counted out, either, but need three teams ahead of them to falter.

A Saints win and a Bears loss would clinch a first round bye for New Orleans. The Bears host the 5-7-1 Green Bay Packers next Sunday while the Saints head to Carolina for Monday Night Football.
