Saints apologize after season ticket waiting list boo-boo

The New Orleans Saints had to send out apologetic emails to people on the season ticket waiting list after telling them that they were next in line to buy tickets, when in fact, they're still a long ways off from having a chance to buy.

"This afternoon, we inadvertently sent you an email stating that your number had been called on the Saints Ticket Wait List," read the email from the Saints. "We sincerely apologize for this error, but your position on the Wait List has not yet become available."

This message was sent out Monday after some on the waiting list got this notice:

"Your Number Just Came Up -- Call Today

"As a Saints Wait List Member, you’re now eligible to officially join the thousands of black and gold faithful in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome! Please note that season tickets will be available first come, first served."

According to The New Orleans Advocate, the cause was human error.

"It was human error that we have fixed," senior vice president of communications Greg Bensel with the Saints and NBA Pelicans told The Advocate. "We have apologized to those who received in error, and no tickets were sold to those not on our waiting list of 100,000."

It's not the first time this year that the organization had a problem with ticket sales. During the Pelicans playoff run, a leaked password caused a run on tickets for the playoff series with Golden State in a pre-sale that was meant only for season ticket holders of the basketball team.

2,500 tickets for each home playoff game in that series had to be canceled.
