ESPN reports the New Orleans Pelicans are sending Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first round draft picks, according to The New Orleans Advocate.

The trade would bring to an end a saga that began late January, when Davis' agent said the Pelicans all-star was demanding a trade out of the Crescent City.

So are the Pels getting good value for the number one overall pick of 2012?

"On the surface, this deal doesn't look great for the Pelicans," said WWL's Seth Dunlap. "But we have to wait to see what they turn the No. 4 pick into before we really judge this trade."

WWL's Steve Geller seems similarly skeptical.

"This deal does not feel like a big win for the Pelicans," he said, noting that Ingram has had injury issues, much has been made of Ball's attitude ("the next Eric Gordon?" wonders Steve), and with Davis now paired with LeBron James, the Lakers' first-round picks after the upcoming draft may not be worth as much.

The Pelicans already have the number one overall pick in next week's NBA draft, and speculation has been running high that they will select Duke's Zion Williamson.

The NBA draft is Thursday, June 20.
