NBA star Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash.

One of the other victims was one of Bryant's four daughters, 13-year-old Gianna.  Another parent and player on Gianna's basketball team were among those on board.  They were on their way to a basketball game Gianna was going to be playing.

Nine people in all died in the crash.

A TMZ report says Bryant was "in his private helicopter when it went down."

Bryant was 41-years-old.

The Associated Press says, "Kobe Bryant, the 18-time NBA All-Star who won five championships and became one of the greatest basketball players of his generation during a 20-year career spent entirely with the Los Angeles Lakers, died in a helicopter crash Sunday."

California authorities confirm there was a deadly chopper crash, but did not identify the people who were killed in the crash in the Calabasas neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Bryant was married with four daughters.

TMZ reported, "Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board."

NBA.com says Bryant averaged 25 points per game over his career. He was the 13th pick in the first round of the NBA draft in 1996.

Bryant finished his career with 33,643 points, all with the Lakers.  He was third all time in NBA scoring history until Saturday when LeBron James surpassed Bryant, dropping Bryan to 4th all time.

Bryant and LSU alum Shaquille O’Neal lead the Lakers to NBA championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

Bryant also won titles in 2009 and 2010.
