A report is out that says Mayor Mitch Landrieu has strong appeal as a presidential candidate.

Political analyst Clancy Dubos says Landrieu is on a book tour and simply getting his name out there.

The Politico story published this week said Landrieu could shake up the field in 2020.  But Dubos says there is no field to shake up.

"If he were to announce tomorrow, he'd be the only person in the field on the Democratic side," Dubos said.

Landrieu has stated he doesn't have any intention of running for president.

In the strictest grammatical sense he is not running, because nobody's running right now, except maybe Donald Trump," Landrieu said.  "There are no declared candidates so until you declare, you're not really running."

Dubos believes Landrieu would certainly love to be president.  He says he's an ambitious politician and he's out of a job on May 7.

"Sure he'd like to be president, I'd like to be Bill Gates, but we all gotta do what we gotta do," Dubos laughed.
