U.S. Coronavirus Cases Surpass 1 Million, Data Shows

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. surpassed 1 million on Tuesday, data compiled by Johns Hopkins University shows.

As of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the U.S. was reporting 1,003,328 confirmed cases of COVID-19, making it the country with the most positive cases by far, according to Johns Hopkins’ Coronavirus Resource Center.

Spain on Tuesday afternoon reported 232,128 confirmed cases, making it the country with the second-highest number of cases. Italy reported 201,505 — the third highest number of cases, according to the data.

A total of 215,063 people across the globe had died of COVID-19 as of Tuesday afternoon, the data shows. In the U.S., at least 53,922 people had died of complications related to the virus as of Sunday, according to Centers for Disease Control data.
