DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It's been a while since we've heard any news on the Dak Prescott contract front, but that changed Friday when Cowboys COO Stephen Jones dropped an interesting nugget about the current negotiations.

When Jeff Cavanaugh of the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan jokingly asked Jones if there are "any giant glaring weaknesses of Dak's you'd like to throw out there for negotiating purposes," Jones initially laughed the question off and responded by saying "absolutely not" and that Prescott is "flawless" in his mind.

Jones then commented further:

"The only thing we need him to do is work with us a little bit, and I understand because it's his money and it's easy for someone else to say, but the only reason we're having a negotiation is to talk him into all the reasons why it's good to have a good supporting cast around him. Other than that, it would be really easy to write the check. It's not saving Jerry and I any money. What we're trying to do is keep this young football team together. We think it's a really good one. We think it's only going to keep getting better because it is young.

"Other than that, this negotiation would have been over with months ago. But I think he understands where we're coming from. We understand where he's coming from. Ultimately, we'll figure this out."

During the  Cowboys win over the Washington Redskins in Week 2, Fox sideline reporter Pam Oliver reported that Prescott wasn't concerned if he became the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

“(Dak) said when all is said and done, he does not necessarily expect to be the highest-paid QB," Oliver said. "Prescott said, ‘I’ve never played for money. That’s not what makes me happy.’ He doesn’t think he can ask for those kinds of riches if he hasn’t won a Super Bowl."
