Kenner Police say two men led their officers on a chase through the city, while a two-year-old boy was in the back seat.

Lt. Michael Cunningham says in a news release that police received a tip about a vehicle "travelling to Kenner, with a significant amount of illegal narcotics."

Upon finding the suspect car in the Sam's parking lot at Loyola and I-10, Cunningham says the suspect sped off, through the Lincoln Manner subdivision, throwing a bag of marijuana out the window. Cunningham said the driver lost control of the car and crashed into a fence in the 3000 block of Huntsville Street, and the two men fled on foot.

"It was then, that officers discovered a two-year-old child in the backseat of the vehicle unrestrained," said Cunningham. "The child was checked on scene by paramedics, found to unharmed and released into the care of his grandmother."

The child was identified as the son of one of the suspects, 25-year-old Kolby Manuel of Marrero. Police identified the other suspect as 19-year-old Jaquan Lampton of Bridge City.

"Officers recovered the discarded bag of marijuana and located additional marijuana in the vehicle totaling more than two pounds, a digital scale, two semi-automatic handguns, one with a fifty round drum magazine and $13,000.00 in cash in the vehicle," Cunningham said.
