Your phone should blast a 'loud tone' at 1:18pm Central Time today

You can't opt out

The federal government today is testing the 'Presidential Alert.'

The message is scheduled to go out at 1:18pm Central Time and read, "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

FEMA says the test is for the new system to be used during a "national emergency."

If you don't want to get the alert, you are out of luck.

FEMA says, "By law you can opt out of general Wireless Emergency Alerts, but not Presidential Alerts."

No only will you get a text, but the system overrides your silence settings.

"You’ll hear a loud tone & vibration," according to FEMA.
