Positive week's end on Wall Street; oil prices up, as well

Jim Chesko reporting...

Stocks closed out the week on a positive note, albeit with very narrow gains.

The  Dow Industrials added 40 points, the Nasdaq Composite rose 47 and the S&P 500 tacked on 13. For the week, the major indexes all rose 1.9% or better.

U-S oil prices rebounded today, with the front-month crude contract settling at a 5-month high. May crude leaped 1.6% to settle at $63.08 a barrel.

Stocks and energy prices both got a lift from data showing that the economy added 196,000 jobs in March, a bit better than expectations.

In case you missed it: it’ll be Fleetwood Mac replacing the Rolling Stones during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Mick Jagger’s need for medical treatment forced the Stones to cancel, but festival organizers announced that Fleetwood Mac will close the main stage on May 2 – part of the celebration marking the festival’s 50th anniversary.
