Overnight shootings in New Orleans East leave one dead, another injured

New Orleans Police say two people were shot in separate incidents in New Orleans East Wednesday night. One of the victims died at the scene. 

According to the NOPD, the first incident took place in the 7000 block of Bundy Road. Initial reports indicate a man was shot in the leg and was taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle.

The second shooting, a fatality, occurred just before 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Curran Boulevard and Rochon Street, about four miles from the first shooting.

Officers responded to reports of the shooting and found the male victim unresponsive, with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. 

He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. 

Police did not identify a motive or suspect in either shootings, and did not say if there is any relation between the shootings.
