One dead, one injured in Algiers shooting

New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the 2900 block of Gen. De Gaulle Drive.

Police say shortly after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a shooting in that area.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying in the neutral ground area suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the back," said police in a statement. "The victim was transported to an area hospital via EMS, where he later died from his injuries."

Police say the second victim from this incident showed up at the hospital via private transportation with gunshot wounds in the side and leg.

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
