Olivia Matte, the Covington woman who pleaded guilty to drunk driving in the 2017 fatal crash, received a 20-year prison sentence Thursday afternoon.

Matte could have received up to 30, or as little as eight, for the crash that caused the death of James Blackmond of Mississippi.

Matte shouldn't have even been driving on March 23, 2017. Her license had been suspended due to a previous DWI arrest.

Matte pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in September.
