NOPD investigating domestic homicide

New Orleans police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the in the 700 block of North Miro Street.

About 7:00 a.m., Wednesday, First District officers received a call of an aggravated battery by shooting incident. When they arrived at the residence, officers found a male victim inside, suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead this evening.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence as well as a motive in this incident.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. No further information is available at this time.
