NOPD identifies second Canal St. shooting suspect

The New Orleans Police Department has an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Byron Wilson, suspected of involvement in a Sunday, Sep. 23 afternoon shooting on Canal Street.
"At about 4:39 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area," say police. "Upon arrival, officers discovered one female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the right thigh. A second female victim was found suffering from a wound to her left side, a wound not believed to have been caused by gunfire.
"Through investigation, detectives were able to positively identify Wilson as the alleged shooter and have obtained a warrant for his arrest for aggravated battery by shooting."
Police are also looking for Derrion Robinson, a 20-year-old woman whom they say told Wilson to fire the shots.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts or with information on the crime are asked to call NOPD Eighth District detectives at (504) 658-6080 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).
