The New Orleans Police Department says it has found a body in the area where they have been searching for a good Samaritan who dove into the water after a car drove into the New Basin Canal on the Lakefront.

"The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official case of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family," said NOPD Public Information Officer Ambria Washington.

Authorities had been searching for the man since last night, when he and three others dove into the water after the car crash, near the Blur Crab Restaurant on Lakeshore Drive. The driver and a passenger were recovered from the vehicle, but the driver died a short time later at the hospital. Of the four who jumped in to help, only three returned.

The missing man is identified as an employee at the Blue Crab.  The driver and passenger had reportedly been in an argument at the restaurant, and they were asked to leave minutes before the car plunged into the water.
